Answer- Was your Phone Dropped ?
No - If your phone was not dropped and all of a sudden this problem came up then try the follwoing steps
Sometimes a glitch occurs within an iPhone that could result in an unresponsive mic. A glitch can often be corrected by resetting or restoring your device.
To reset, hold down the "Wake/Sleep" button and the "Home" button at the same time and don’t release until the Apple logo appears. This usually takes around 10 seconds.
Then wait while your device reboots itself. If this does not correct your headphone jack issues, you could try restoring your iPhone.
To do this, connect your device to your computer through its USB cable, launch iTunes, click on the name of your device in the panel on the left side of the screen and click on "Restore" in the Summary tab.
Make sure to back up your content when prompted to do so or you could lose valuable data.
If still the above steps doesnot work try to get your phone serviced .
