Puny aluminum in Apple’s iPhone 5

iFixit told us that the new anodized aluminum casing of the iPhone 5 is fairly resistant to scratching, but it did note that the chamfered edge around the screen can wear away, revealing

the shiny bare aluminum underneath. AllThingsD reported that there have been widespread claims of scratches, nicks, and other blemishes in the anodized surface of users’ iPhones, sometimes even right out of the box. AllThingsD did note that aluminum is not as scratch-resistant as the stainless steel used in the iPhone 4 and 4S.

How to Preserve Your iPhone's Battery Life

The current versions of iPhone are nice and fascinating with the latest fashion but what's the nicer in all the features? That if you are fond of using your iPhone as an iPod, means you hear the music alot, then you can adjust your battery life time by optimizing somethings. Here's how to maximize Your iPhone's Battery Life:
1 - Turn the LCD less brighter: By default, the iPhone's brightness settings are much to consume most of the battery life and that makes your battery low, soon. So you should adjust it at lower brightness. That can fix your issue of battery timing. To do this goto Settings -> Brightness.

2.1 - Turn off the Wi-Fi: Your Wi-Fi scanning feature keeps on running while using iPhone's any application or doing anything and it's by default. So it also consumes your battery. Turn this off to use battery for your own purpose. To do this goto Settings -> Wi-Fi.

2.2 - Turn off the Bluetooth:
Like Wi-Fi you should also turn off the bluetooth when you are not using this feature. To do this goto Settings ->
BlueTooth.

3 - Disable 3G for Light Browsing: By enabling 3G feature for the browsing, makes the battery time short. So only enable 3G for Youtube Application, any video streaming or application store browsing etc. For general email reading and chating just make it disable.
4 - Turn off Un-necessary Vibrations: You should turn off the un-necessary vibrations while using your iPhone. It includes vibration in games etc. Because vibration also consumes alot of your battery time.

5 - Use less GPS Tracking: No doubt it's a worth feature of the iPhone to use GPS tracking. But no doubt it also consumes your battery timing so you should avoid using more GPS tracking application when you are over for you necessity.
6 - Buy Song and Apps at your PC: When you can do it at your PC with much more ease and comfort then why to do it with your iPhone. You should buy these thing at your PC instead of iPhone because that can provide you more ease.
7 - Set the Autolock to 1-minute: The iPhone's or any cellphone's autolock is good at shutting off the screen or locking the keypad if you forget to when keeping it in a pocket or purse or somwhere. So you should set the autolock to the most aggressive, 1-minute. This will save your battery for sure. To do this goto Settings -> General -> Autolock.

 8. Make less often use of 3D Programs: Off course when you play rendering 3Dgames, battery life drops and same is with the any 3D application because more intense usage of the graphics chips cranks up battery power usage. Especially gaming is not only a full-time but also a full attention endeavor that for sure keeps the LCD,CPU and the going full-time

9. Set the Fetch Time and Off the Push: Push email isn't that worthy for an average user because emails comes all day long and those have to be checked all the time. Push feature use more battery energy than the fetch mode because it checks for calendar, contact and email syncing. If you rarely update your calendars and contacts than you should turn off the syncing.

10. Keep Charging: Your iPhone can be recharged by a cigarette adapter or a USB cable. So if you are sitting in front of your PC then use USB and if you are in car then try the cigarette adapter to keep charging your iPhone.

Early adopters experiencing issues with Apple’s iPhone 5

While Apple’s reported sell-out of initial stock suggests consumers may be enamored with the iPhone 5, not everyone is pleased as punch with their purchase. In addition to the discontent with

Apple’s revamped Maps application, some users are reporting issues with WiFi connections, scuffing and scratches in the aluminum casing, and even a light leak around the edge of the white

iPhone 5. Siri seems to be getting confused when asked about the weather in several major US cities. And Apple is pulling the plug on the free 20GB of storage space extended to previous

MobileMe subscribers, which could make it difficult for some upgraders to back up their new iPhone 5 to iCloud.

Confused Siri in Apple’s iPhone 5

Though not related directly to the iPhone 5, Siri is now giving incorrect results when asking about the weather in certain US cities. According to MacRumors, asking about the weather in New York City will return results for New York, Texas, even though Siri says the results are for New York, New York. Siri is also confusing Richmond, Virginia for New Richmond, Ohio; Carrollton, Texas for Carrollton, Indiana; and St. Louis, Missouri for St. Louis,

Georgia. Asking for weather for a specific ZIP code seems to work around the issue, as does asking, “What’s the weather like?” which returns location-based results. The problem is definitely server-related—I was able to reproduce the erroneous results on an iPhone 5 as

well as an iPad 3—so affected users will have to wait for Apple to update Siri’s servers to fix the problem.

Slow WiFi in Apple’s iPhone 5

Users in Apple’s support forums are reporting problems connecting to WPA2-protected WiFi networks, as noted by MacRumors. The most commonly reported problem is a seemingly slow connection, which doesn’t appear to affect earlier iOS devices on the same network. Some users claimed that turning off LTE in Settings alleviates the issue, but doing so isn’t going to be the best workaround for everyone.

One user in Apple’s forums claimed that AppleCare is aware of the issue and is working to sort out the cause, suggesting the slow speeds are likely a software issue. Other possible causes include

individual hardware issues, or even compatibility with certain WiFi base stations, as not all iPhone 5 users are having problems.

Leaking light in Apple’s iPhone 5

Another apparent defect affecting the white iPhone 5 is a small light leak from the LED backlight shining through a small crack in the edge where the front panel fits into the aluminum casing. BGR confirmed the issue with one of its own iPhone 5s, though it reported
that the flaw is only visible “under low-light or completely dark situations.” The issue doesn’t appear to interfere with the operation of an affected device, though Apple will reportedly replace any device showing this problem.
